The Assemblathon, an international consortium of researchers interested in advancing the field of genome assembly, have published their first set of findings as to the current state of genome assembler performance:

 

 

The paper, published in the journal Genome Research, features the work of Joseph Fass, Vince Buffalo, and Dawei Lin from the Bioinformatics Core, as well as several members of the Korf lab, led by Genome Center Faculty Ian Korf.
