Overview

The Bioinformatics Core at the UC Davis Genome Center is pleased to announce the Pilot Grant Program (for UC Davis customers) for 2015. The Bioinformatics Core provides data analysis for a variety of experiments, including RNA-Seq, Exome Sequencing, Variant Discovery, Genome and Transcriptome Assembly, and more (here are some examples of the varied projects that we have been involved with).

The Pilot Grants are intended to show the feasibility of novel experiments or provide preliminary data for further grant applications. Successful Pilot Grant applications will be used to fund data analysis activities performed by Bioinformatics Core personnel. However, they can also be combined with Pilot Grant applications at other Core Facilities in the Genome Center: e.g. Metabolomics, Proteomics, and the DNA Technologies Core (which provides Illumina HiSeq + MiSeq, and PacBio RS sequencing services). Only customers from UC Davis are eligible for Pilot Grants at this time.

Pilot grant applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and will fund a maximum of $2,000 per project, to be spent on data analysis or consulting services offered by the Bioinformatics Core. Please consult with Core personnel beforehand for estimates. Preference will be given to novel approaches, and/or pilot studies intended to test feasibility.

Applications

Please submit a one page application that describes the aims of your research, proposes experiments that require data analysis by the Bioinformatics Core, and which also includes a budget estimate (worked out in advance with Core personnel). Applications for work that leverages multiple Genome Center Core Facilities are encouraged (separate application documents are not required). Please send applications at any time to bioinformatics.core@ucdavis.edu, and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions about this program.
