Thanks to the success of the Assemblathon 2 project – which was lead by Bioinformatics Core members Keith Bradnam, Joseph Fass, and director Ian Korf – the resulting paper won the 2013 BioMed Central Research Award for Open Data. As mentioned on the official Assemblathon site, the award money will be distributed by way of a contest, in the form of waivers to cover Article Processing Charges for any any BMC journal.
