Thanks to the success of the Assemblathon 2 project – which was lead by Bioinformatics Core members Keith Bradnam, Joseph Fass, and director Ian Korf – the resulting paper won the 2013 BioMed Central Research Award for Open Data.  As mentioned on the official Assemblathon site, the award money will be distributed by way of a contest, in the form of waivers to cover Article Processing Charges for any any BMC journal.

The contest will be accepting manuscripts during the months of August and September.  For more details on requirements for the contest, check out the press release:
